The CAME BX-78 Automation Kit is one of the most successful legacy 230V AC mid-range sliding gate operators ever manufactured.

Important Architecture Update: The classic BX-78 has been officially deprecated. It has been replaced by the updated BX708AGS (part number 801MS-0030). The modern chassis shares the exact physical footprint and bolt positions as the legacy BX-78, making it a simple drop-in replacement. It updates the classic mechanical system with a charcoal grey design (RAL 7024) and a modern digital display.

The system is engineered for medium-to-heavy residential entrances, small apartment complexes, and private estates, efficiently driving sliding gates weighing up to 800 kg and measuring up to 14 meters in length.

Core Engineering & Mechanical Design

• High-Inertia 230V AC Drive: Unlike low-voltage 24V DC systems that rely on electronic speed scaling, the BX-78/BX708AGS runs on a line-voltage 230V AC motor. This motor generates high starting torque, making it effective for pushing heavy iron or wood-clad gates through wind resistance or uneven track debris.

• Integrated ZBX7N Control Framework: The modernized chassis drops the older dip-switch layout in favour of the ZBX7N control board. This board features a built-in LCD programming display, full radio decoding, and dedicated error-logging diagnostics.

• Encoder-Monitored Force & Safety: To meet modern European safety standards for impact forces, the motor incorporates an internal tracking encoder. The encoder monitors travel parameters, applies end-of-travel slow-down tracks to prevent structural slams, and triggers physical reversals if the gate strikes an obstacle.

• CAME RIO Wireless Safety Hub Ready: The control board accommodates the 806SS-0040 snap-in card, giving installers a direct link to the RIO System 2.0 wireless network. This allows for wireless safety photocells, edges, and bumpers without cutting slots into a finished concrete driveway.
